Learning Cafe

At Maddiston Primary School, we have an event for parents to come along, listen, join in and see what pupils have accomplished in school.  Our pupils will talk about and show what we are doing in school.  We share our projects, subjects and achievements.  The parents can also have a bite to eat and a cup of tea while they are there.

The first learning cafe of the year at the end of October was about our achievements.  There was a fantastic turnout of parents and carers to share our learning and everyone left very positive comments.

October Learning Cafe

January Learning Cafe

We held our second learning cafe on 19th January.  Once again, despite the weather, we had a huge turnout of parents and carers who attended with their children.  Our Rights Knights spoke about the rights of a child and everyone took part in an activity where they identified the needs and wants of a child.  P1-6 recited their Scots poems which they will be performing at our Scots Assembly on Wednesday 24th January.  some of our P6 pupils demonstrated a Number Talk and then everyone shared number talks with their parents and carers.  We finished our cafe with everyone taking part in Stop and Dance which is a weekly initiative that has been introduced in our school by the Healthy Heroes Citizenship Group.

May Learning Cafe

Our third learning cafe was held on 11th May and was a huge success.  There was a wonderful turn out of parents and carers for this cafe whose theme was languages.  The All Stars singing group opened our cafe and then everyone was free to visit the stalls.  There were three Spanish stalls run by P5-7 and three around Speech and Language. The nursery joined us to sing in French and show their counting.  We finished with everyone joining in our French five a day exercise.

Snack time

Pupils joined their parents and carers for a drink and a cafe in our dining hall after sharing the learning in the main hall.

The Pupil Council encouraged everyone to join in with our French exercise at the end of the cafe
